The Collaboratory Against Hate aspires to develop and support innovative multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and cross-university research aimed at understanding how extremist hate is generated, how it circulates in online and real-life spaces, and how it polarizes society and provokes harmful and illegal acts, especially toward communities of color and other minoritized groups. The Center's research is purposely translational - we seek to translate our research findings into interventions that will effectively inhibit every stage in the creation and growth of extremist hate and to minimize its destructive consequences. The inaugural co-directors are stepping down, so we are searching for new co-directors. This is an internal search confined to Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.
CAH is co-directed by two faculty, one from CMU and one from Pitt, who report to the respective Provost of their university. Faculty directors will have a 3-year, renewable term, and will receive an administrative supplement equivalent to a month of salary. In addition, the co-directors are supported by a full-time Executive Director and a part-time project administrator. Applicants should be at the rank of associate or above.
