CAH Participates in the 2023 Eradicate Hate Global Summit

October 9, 2023

The Collaboratory Against Hate (CAH) participated in the Eradicate Hate Global Summit held from September 27th to 29th in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This summit emerged in response to the tragic Tree of Life shooting, uniting experts dedicated to combatting hate and discrimination. Susan Baida, the executive director, represented CAH during the hate studies working group breakout session. She presented CAH's vision, mission, and strategic approach, highlighting projects focused on threat assessment prevention in Pennsylvania, a contemporary antisemitism program, and efforts to countering hate in esports.

CAH researcher, Will Flanagan, participated as a member of the video games working group session. This session aimed to identify strategies for combatting hate and extremism within gaming platforms while harnessing the potential of video games as tools for both countering hate and educating individuals. Will was joined with representatives from Meta, Activision-Blizzard, Microsoft, and the Anti-Defamation League, among others, in a collective effort to find solutions to reduce the prevalence of hate in the online gaming community.
